The Perumbavoor police on Wednesday seized 1,082 kg of subsidised urea meant only for agricultural purposes on the charge of the product being diverted for commercial purposes.

The commodity, kept in 24 plastic bags of over 45 kg each, was seized from a firm at Mudikkal engaged in supplying materials for making adhesives used in plywood manufacturing. The police have registered a case invoking various sections of the Essential Commodities Act and the Fertilizer (Control) Order.
