: The autonomous status will de-stabilise the academic atmosphere in Ernakulam Maharaja’s College, K.G. Paulose, former Vice Chancellor of Kerala Kalamandalam, has said.

Inaugurating the indefinite dharna organised by the Maharaja’s Samrakshana Samithi against the government decision to provide autonomy to the institution, Dr. Paulose pointed out that autonomous status will pave way for the proliferation of self-financing, short-term and diploma programmes on the campus.

Explaining that transparency in various academic activities will be affected owing to the autonomous status, Dr. Paulose said that limiting the powers to conduct the examinations and evaluation process to faculty members of the college will have a negative impact on the overall academic standards.
