Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) will start two new schools — School of Integrated M.Sc. and School of Vocational Studies and Skill Development and six research/study centres in the coming financial year.
The six new researchcentres proposed in the Cusat budget are Centre for Comparative Literature (Hindi dept.), Centre for Extension Activities in Marine Science (School of Marine Sciences), Centre for Industrial Research Development and Society Engagement (School of Engineering), Centre for Alternative Finance under Faculty of Social Sciences, Centre for Accounting and Finance (School of Management Studies) and Centre for Library Technology and Information Science (University Library), and a microwave-based drying and disinfecting processing unit.
A new master’s programme in Library and Information Science has also been envisaged under the newly formed Centre for Library Technology and Information Science.
Stipend
The budget, approved by the syndicate on February 2, envisages an increased stipend for University Junior Research Fellowship from ₹12,500 to ₹20,000 and the University Senior Research Fellowship from ₹15,000 to ₹22,500.
