Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) for design and construction of fishing vessels.

The pact between the public sector yard and a subsidiary of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) was signed in the presence of CSL Chairman and Managing Director and senior officials of both firms.

“This initiative aims at creating benchmarks and standards in design and construction of fishing vessels and enabling end-to-end solutions to the fisheries sector, leveraging the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Blue Revolution’ programmes of the Union government,” a press release from the yard said on Wednesday.
