October 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - KOCHI:

The Crime Branch (CB) on Thursday launched a probe into the recent allegations and revelations in connection with the death of Swami Saswatikananda, former head of Sivagiri Madhom.

“A directive regarding probing the allegations was received from the office of the Additional Director General of Police (Crime), and to start with we will meet the persons who raised the allegations,” said P.K. Madhu, Superintendent, Crime Branch, Ernakulam. If the previous investigation had covered these angles, no further probe will be held on them, the official added.

The CB will record statements of persons, including hotelier Biju Ramesh, and look for evidence to substantiate the allegations. “If there is no evidence at all, we will have to drop the investigation in the beginning itself as there is no formal complaint,” the official added.
