Collectorate hosts caricature campaign

Five artists mobilise funds for flood relief

August 20, 2019 06:52 pm | Updated 06:52 pm IST - KOCHI:

The collectorate hosted a caricature campaign with a difference on Tuesday.

Visitors to the district headquarters were turned into subjects for caricatures, which were then sold to them in return for a contribution to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) to help out those hit by the recent floods.

The event, Draw for Kerala, was organised jointly by the Cartoon Club, a service organisation and an online combine as a means to mobilise funds towards CMDRF. When people who had dropped in at the collectorate for various reasons found time to participate in the caricature campaign, 200-odd caricatures were born between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Artists handed over ₹20,000 mobilised through the campaign to the District Collector in the evening. Five artists led by Ibrahim Badusha, known as ‘cartoon man’, participated in the campaign.
