The Chairman and Managing Director of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation has issued a circular ahead of the proposed 24-hour strike by the KSRT Employees’ Association (CITU) starting from October 19 midnight, directing all employees to attend office.

Only those producing medical certificates from medical officers not below the rank of civil surgeon will be sanctioned leave for the period, the circular said.

The circular also said that those running the canteens should be instructed to keep the outlets open on October 19 and 20. If the canteens are not open on these days, licences would be cancelled and owners of the canteens would be blacklisted.

Empanelled employees have been asked to sign the registry at the station master’s offices and the unit officers have been instructed to send these lists to the personnel manager on the following day.

The unit heads have also been told to keep in touch with the police in case of any law and order problems.

Meanwhile, the Kerala State Transport Employees’ Union (AITUC) has said that it would not participate in the strike on October 20.
