A writ petition was filed in the Kerala High Court on Tuesday seeking a CBI probe into the case relating to the death of an NCC cadet during a shooting practice in Kannur in 2014.

The petition was filed by Kunhumohammed. According to him, his 18-year-old son M Anas suffered a bullet injury during a shooting practice session in Kannur and died at the Command Hospital, Bengaluru in November 2014. He said that Anas was injured as a bullet fired by another cadet hit his chest during the firing practice.

Cause of death

As per the medical certificate the cause of death was the result of gunshot wound in the spinal cord with traumatic paraplegia.

The FIR was registered at the Kuthuparamba Judicial First Class Magistrate Court.

‘Wrong track’

However, the investigation was going in the wrong track and the petitioner understands that the authorities were trying to wind up the case with a finding that the boy had died of a disease.
