Cardinal accorded reception

Everyone must strive to highlight the goodness and humaneness in each religion, even while retaining the unique identity of their religion, the Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church Cardinal Mar George Alencherry said.

Common good

Social and cultural differences must not divide people, since there are common threads that bind them together. The common good of mankind must be important. Each person has a role in God's kingdom, he said in his reply at a reception accorded to him by the Church at the St Mary's Basilica on Saturday. He expressed his fraternal love to Archbishops, Bishops et al who participated in the function.

In his address, the Archbishop of Varapuzha Francis Kallarakkal said that God would strengthen the Cardinal in his Ministry. The others who spoke include Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Salvathore Penackiyo, the CBCI Secretary Archbishop Albert D'Souza, the Archbishop designate of Faridabad Msgr Kuriakose Bharanikulangara and Binu John, the secretary of the Pastoral Council of the Ernakulam-Angamaly Archdiocese.

Ministers present

Around 40 Archbishops and Bishops from the Syro-Malabar, Latin and Syro-Malankara churches were present. The Union Minister of State for Food and Consumer Affairs K.V. Thomas and Excise Minister K. Babu too were present.
