Bangladesh Naval Ship Bangabandhu has berthed in Kochi. The modern frigate of Bangladesh Navy was on its way to Doha to participate in Exercise Ferocious Falcon. High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India Tariq Ahmad Karim flew to Kochi to welcome BNS Bangabandhu. Welcoming the Indian naval officers on board his ship for a reception, Commanding Officer of BNS Bangabandhu Captain Mir Ershad Ali spoke of Kochi with nostalgia as he had undergone part of his training here.

At the occasion, the High Commissioner made out a convincing case for closer relation between Bangladesh and India. The High Commissioner invoked civilisation links between the two neighbours to underscore the point.

Vice-Admiral Satish Soni, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief of Southern Naval Command, echoed the sentiments and spoke of the warm hospitality which the Indian Navy receives during Bangladesh visits. The Admiral also expressed readiness in training more officers from Bangladesh Navy. The ship will depart from Kochi on Monday.
