Biennale curator’s selection on Saturday

May 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - KOCHI:

The Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) will choose the curator of the third edition of India’s only biennale coming up in end-2016 at a meeting this weekend.

A high-powered artistic advisory committee comprising nine members including KBF trustees, artists, scholars and patrons will meet in Delhi on May 30 to select the curator of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale beginning December 12, 2016.

KBF President Bose Krishnamachari, Secretary Riyas Komu and Trustee Sunil V, besides art critic Ranjith Hoskote, promoters Kiran Nadar and Shireen Gandhy and artists Atul Dodia, Jyothi Basu and Bharati Kher will take part in the deliberations.

“The new artistic advisory board consists of eminent and respected personalities from the world of art; and not just KBF officials,” Mr. Krishnamachari said. “This ensures a continuation of the transparent process to select the new curator. It won’t be a unilateral decision,” Mr. Komu said.

The curator of the biennale that concluded in March this year Jitish Kallat was selected by a similar committee.
