Bar hotels in Kerala can function till February 10 as the High Court of Kerala has extended the status quo order allowing them to operate till the date.

A Division Bench of the court comprising Justice K.T. Sankaran and Justice Babu Mathew P. Joseph on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of appeals filed by the bar hotel owners and the State government to February 2.

The orders were issued by the court while considering the appeals filed by the bar hotel owners seeking to quash a single judge’s order which partially upheld the new Abkari policy of the State government.

KAT order upheld

The Kerala Administrative Tribunal’s (KAT) order directing that candidates for vocational teachers in the office secretary ship course should obtain M.Com. degree after undergoing a regular course was upheld by the High Court of Kerala on Wednesday.

A Division Bench comprising Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice K. Harilal issued the order on a petition filed by two applicants for the post of vocational teachers. The court observed that there were no grounds to interfere with the decision of the tribunal.
