The Bar Council of Kerala (BCK) has initiated suo motu proceedings against A. Shajudeen, public prosecutor at the Assistant Sessions Court, now Neyyattinkara, under suspension.

He was arrested by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) while ‘accepting’ Rs.1 lakh as bribe from the complainant in a case.

In a notice to Shajudeen, the council asked him to show cause why disciplinary proceedings should not be taken. The notice said the offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act as alleged against him amounted to clear professional misconduct.
