An exam to be written in festive spirit

May 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:57 am IST - KOCHI:

It will be a unique exam; one to be held in a festive spirit.

The idea is to ease the pressure on candidates appearing for the exam, which is likely to go down in the education history of the State for the feat it is set to achieve.

The exam that is expected to turn the State fully literate in terms of primary education (up to standard four) under the literacy project Athulyam will be held in the district on June 7 as Aksharolsavam or word fest.

The exam to be held in all 84 panchayats, municipalities and Kochi Corporation would be written by 17,910 persons. Of this, 7,350 are aged above 50 years.

Local bodies will make arrangements to turn the exam into a festival in the true sense of the word to spare senior citizens the anxiety usually associated with exams.

A meeting was held on Wednesday to review the progress of the project. District panchayat vice president Bindhu George inaugurated the meeting attended by chairmen of three-tier panchayats and preraks. State Literacy Mission Assistant Director K. Ayyappan Nair led the review process. District Literacy Mission coordinator K.V. Ratheesh presided.
