The recurring allegations against the Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt was part of an international conspiracy against the Hindu religious institutions that began with the arrest of Kanchi Shankaracharya in 2004, said Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal here on Sunday.
He was delivering the keynote address at the Dharmarakshasangamam, organised to condemn the attacks against Mata Amritanandamayi and her institution. “There has been a systematic sinister propaganda against the Mata to disrepute her, obviously motivated at bringing down the high respect and reputation that millions of people across the world have for this spiritually oriented service organisation,” he said.
Vishweshwara Threetha Sami, head of the Uduppi Pejavar Mutt, inaugurated the event. On the occasion, a message of the Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt head Jayendra Saraswathi was also read out. He expressed his solidarity with the movement to prevent attack against the mutt. “Let the Mutt grow, expand and continue its activities with great vigour in propagating Sanathana Dharma with selfless and enduring divine service,” he said.
