: With a view to check the flow of smuggled gold through the airport here, the Cochin International Airport Limited on Monday decided to step up its security apparatus.

A security meeting, attended by different agencies operating at the airport, including the CISF, directed contract agencies to adhere to the security guidelines while recruiting staff to the airport.

Further, a decision with regard to frisking employees while entering and exiting the airport was also taken.

The agencies have been also directed to monitor the movement of their staff inside the terminals and report to the security agencies in case of suspicion. The authorities have also begun steps to install security cameras at terminals.

Meanwhile, the meeting also decided to issue entry passes to customs officials to enter the domestic terminal in case of suspicious activity.
