The Maradu police are on the hunt for those responsible for dumping abattoir waste along the national highway stretch from Kundannoor to Thykoodam bridge.

While the police obtained the CCTV footage of the vehicle engaged for illegal dumping of waste, its registration number was not visible, as it was spotted around 5 a.m. when there was inadequate light.

“We are trying to trace the vehicle and those involved in the illegal act. A case will be registered soon,” said Maradu police sources.

Maradu Municipal Chairman Antony Ashanparambil said the CCTV footage from more shops in the locality was not immediately available, as they were closed owing to the general strike. “We will source more visuals at the earliest,” he added.

Meanwhile, the health wing of the municipality and sanitation workers cleaned up the national highway stretch.
