Writ petition seeks approach road

June 22, 2010 05:17 pm | Updated 05:17 pm IST - Kochi:

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Monday adjourned to next week the hearing on a writ petition seeking a directive for constructing approach roads to the Pulleppady railway overbridge and also for building drainages on the roads near the bridge.

In the petition, the Malabar Cultural Centre, Ernakulam said that the overbridge was opened for traffic on June 7.However, no approach roads were constructed. Besides, no proper drainage near the road had been put in place.

In fact, the authorities concerned were collecting users fee/toll from the travelling public.

This could not be allowed as it was being collected without laying approach roads.

The petitioner pointed out that approach roads should have been made before opening the bridge for traffic.
