Senior Congress leader V.M. Sudheeran has demanded immediate rollback of the increase in fuel price.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function held here on Thursday, Mr. Sudheeran said that the oil companies’ move when the Union government led by the Prime Minister was trying hard to rein in price rise was ill-timed.

He also called for the rollback of deregulation of oil prices stating that such a sensitive power should remain with the Union government.

Asked about the delay in re-inducting K. Muralidharan into Congress, Mr. Sudheeran said that he was also surprised at the delay.

Earlier delivering the inaugural address at a function held to mark the 27th death anniversary of Congress leader C.M. Stephen, he said that that the Lokpal Bill should be made into an Act without delay by expanding its purview to cover the State and national leaders of registered political parties.

He called for necessary amends in the Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill to cover the relatives of the members of the Judiciary.

Mr. Sudheeran also called for necessary amendment of the Contempt of Court provision so as to provide fair protection to those acting in good faith while criticizing the members of the Judiciary.
