Strike at LPG bottling plant continues

February 08, 2017 01:40 am | Updated 01:40 am IST - KOCHI:

A strike by contract employees at Indian Oil Corporation’s LPG bottling plant at Udayamperoor continued for the third day on Tuesday with the workers apparently not receiving any assurance from the oil company officials on their demand for deployment of a medical ambulance on a 24-hour basis at the bottling plant site.

“There is no going back unless the ambulance service is assured,” said a trade union leader representing the workers, who started their protest action and stopped work on Saturday. The action followed an accident in the early hours of Friday when an electricity maintenance worker sustained burn injuries from an electrical flash.

The workers have been demanding measures to meet any emergency situation.
