Somalis being questioned

June 02, 2010 04:07 pm | Updated 04:07 pm IST - Kochi:

The police on Tuesday said that a joint team comprising the Police, Navy and Intelligence Bureau had begun interrogating the eight Somalis handed over to it by the Navy on Saturday.

Muhammad Rafique, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mattancherry, said that the Somali nationals were still maintaining that they were regular seafarers.

They were saying that they were in no way connected to the three Somalis arrested by the Minicoy Police last Thursday.

The Somalis were captured by the Indian Navy after they were spotted adrift on a boat about 100 kilometres off Kavaratti island in Lakshadweep on Friday.
