P.C. Thomas' plea to protect rubber farmers

Kerala Congress leader and former MP, P.C. Thomas said here on Monday that his party would submit a memorandum to the Union government seeking action to protect the interest of the rubber farmers.

Addressing a press conference, he said the memorandum was being submitted in view of a recent Delhi High Court order on a petition from tyre manufacturers.

Thomas' claim

A statement issued at the press conference said district secretary of the Kerala Congress(J) and member of Koovappady block panchayat Varghese Moolan; president of the committee of the party in the Perumbavoor Assembly Constituency K.J. Paulose; general secretary K.T. Kuriakose; district secretariat member Paulose Padayattil and State committee member P. V. Joseph were among those who decided to join the Kerala Congress led by Mr. Thomas.

The statement also said that they would continue to be part of the Left Democratic Front.
