KSU activists protest

The police used water cannons to disperse activists of the Kerala Students Union (KSU) who staged a march to the Kalamassery Police station on Tuesday against the police lathicharge against its members who organised a protest against the hike in fee for B.Tech programmes at Cochin University of Science and Technology on Monday.

KSU activists tried to break the police barricade in protest against the lathicharge in which nearly six of its activists were injured. The police later removed the protestors from the scene by using water cannons.

The KSU also organised a protest on the campuses in the district on Tuesday in protest against the lathicharge held on the Cusat campus.

The activists of the organisation had tried to enter the office of the Vice-Chancellor of the university demanding that the university should cut down the fee for the B. Tech courses for the new academic year.
