Four youth drown in Periyar

Four youth drowned in the Periyar River on Friday morning.

Police identified the deceased as Jithin, 21, Bineesh, 21, Jerry, 26, and Rajeev, 20. They all belong to Veli in Fort Kochi.

According to the police, the youth drowned while having a bath at the ghat near the wildlife centre of the State Forest Department at Kodanad near Perumbavoor.

They were on their way to the Malayatoor shrine to participate in the Holy week observances and Easter celebrations.

The bodies have been kept at the Perumbavoor taluk hospital.
