Vadavucode block panchayat has bagged the award for maintaining the cleanliest office premises in the district, District Collector M. Beena announced here on Wednesday.
She was declaring the first ever sanitation award in the district under the sanitation campaign for reviewing the cleanliness of the government offices and other public establishments at the grama panchayat level and to recognise them with awards and star rating.
The award comprised of a purse of Rs.20,000. Vazhakulam block panchayat office bagged the second prize comprising a purse of Rs.10,000. Chengamanad police station and Ernakulam district information office shared the third prize of Rs.5,000.
Three offices at the district level and seven offices at the taluk level were selected for awards.
Besides, the best schools and hospitals in terms of cleanliness were also to be awarded.
Ms. Beena said that the winners were selected from among 33 applications received from the Kunnathunadu taluk (4 applications), Aluva (5), Kochi (1), Kanayannur (6), Kothamangalam (3), Muvattupuzha (8), and Paravur (6) taluks.
Additional District Magistrate K.N. Raje, and Total Sanitation Campaign project coordinator N. Vinodini were also present.
