In a daring robbery, three persons made away with Rs.33 lakh on Saturday morning after they broke into the house where three employees of a private broiler unit near Tripunitura market were staying.

According to the police, the armed robbers entered the house at around 4 a.m. and threatened the workers. One of the suspects brandished a knife and attacked Kuberan, 30, belonging to Theni in Tamil Nadu, when he tried to resist the attack. He received a head injury and was later admitted at the Government taluk hospital in Tripunitura. All the three workers belonged to Tamil Nadu.

The workers told the police that they had received collections from various places where they had supplied chicken over the last few days. The money could not be deposited on Friday, as it was a holiday for banks in connection with Good Friday. The workers also informed the police that the assailants spoke Tamil. They had also covered their faces.

Police has launched a manhunt for the burglars involved in the incident. They also said that several other aspects including the detection of huge cash at the house will be probed.
