Cash to the tune of around ₹30,000 was stolen from an offering box at the Subramanya Swamy Temple at Vyttila in the early hours of Wednesday.

The Maradu police have registered a case under IPC Section 380 ( theft). Hunt is on for the culprits. “The theft had taken place between 1.30 a.m. and 3.30 a.m. The cash was stolen from the box kept in the ‘nadapandal’ of the temple by breaking it open using some sharp object, probably an iron rod. An attempt was found to have been made to break into another offering box as well,” said C. Vinod, Inspector, Maradu.
