A total of 227 officer trainees of the Navy and the Coast Guard completed their afloat training, qualifying for sea attachments aboard frontline warships. Their passing out ceremony was held on board naval training ships Tir and Sujata on Friday.
Rear Admiral R.J. Nadkarni, Chief of Staff of the Southern Naval Command, who was the chief guest, awarded trophies. The Chief of the Naval Staff Trophy and Telescope for the Best All-Round Sea Trainee were awarded to Sea Trainee Ravi Prakash Kumar.
Sea trainee R.K. Rajkumar received the binoculars for standing first in overall order of merit as well as the FOC-in-C East Rolling Trophy for showing maximum progress in service subjects during the term onboard. Sea trainee Lal Macaroni Nath Shahdeo received the DG, ICG Trophy for the best Coast Guard sea trainee , while sea Trainee Arpit Moulik was adjudged the best sportsman and awarded FOC-in-C South Rolling Trophy.
Meanwhile, 15 naval officers from nine countries—Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and Thailand—successfully completed their long gunnery specialisation course at an impressive passing-out ceremony held at the naval missile and gunnery school at INS Dronacharya at Veli, Fort Kochi, on Friday. The specialisation course was conducted over a period of 33 weeks, during which the officers trained in phases: an orientation phase, a basic phase covering gunnery and missile warfare, and a joint phase with their Indian counterparts. Commodore Simon Mathai, Commanding Officer of Dronacharya, reviewed the parade.
