YSRC stooping low fearing defeat, say TDP MPs

‘Baseless complaint lodged to EC over Nandyal Assembly bypoll’

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has alleged that the YSR Congress is levelling baseless charges against the ruling party fearing defeat in the by-election to Nandyal Assembly constituency and that its false complaint to the Election Commission amounts to committing crime.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, TDP MPs Konakalla Narayana Rao and Kesineni Nani pointed out how the MPs and MLAs of YSR Congress had misled the officials stating that the ruling party was moving money in the pantry vehicle of the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s convoy to influence the voters and were proved wrong.

They stated that people were well aware of the fact as to which leader had criminal background and its was Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy who was in jail for 16 months after being named accused in 12 charge-sheets filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the disproportionate assets and quid pro quo cases. In fact, it was 42 YSR Congress activists who were caught red-handed when distributing money among voters, the TDP leaders alleged.

Stating that the YSR Congress was resorting to all sorts of gimmicks including demanding the Election Commission to postpone the by-election since defeat was staring at it, the TDP MPs said the Opposition party was stooping low and levelling baseless charges against the Chief Minister. Not only Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, but his associates in the party such as V. Vijay Sai Reddy, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and Botcha Satyanarayana also have criminal background by having links with assets case, with red sanders smugglers and Volkswagen scam, respectively.

They demanded that police arrest YSR Congress MLA G. Srikanth Reddy for threatening a police officer and trying to affect the morale of the officials on election duties. Further, they urged the Election Commission to ban Sakshi newspaper and television channel for acting as mouthpiece of the Opposition party and also include the coverage being given to YSR Congress candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy in his election expenditure.

Meanwhile, the TDP lodged two complaints with the Election Commission on Saturday seeking action against YSR Congress leaders for making false complaint about carrying money in the Chief Minister’s pantry car and also to prevent flow of money in the by-election in the background of ₹47.4 lakh unaccounted for money being seized from YSR Congress leader P. Venkatarami Reddy.
