Youth commits suicide

An 18-year-old hanged himself to death at his house in Malkajgiri over family issues on Wednesday night, the police said.

Arun Yadav (18), a private employee, lived along with his family at Mirjalguda in Malkajgiri police station area. On Wednesday morning, the boy was summoned by the Lalaguda police in connection with a petty fight reported in the area the previous evening.

A friend of Arun had complained to the police that he had picked up a quarrel with him over a trivial issue. “We counselled the man and his friends, and after registering a petty case, he was released on bail in the evening,” Inspector Lalaguda Karan Kumar Singh said.

In the night, Arun quarrelled with his family members over the issue. Late in the night, the youth hanged himself by tying a rope onto the ceiling fan in the house, Inspector Malkajgiri G. Sekhar Goud said.

His family members, who found him hanging, alerted the police who shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital where a post-mortem examination was performed. The family members had alleged that the Lalaguda police had harassed and tortured the boy, a result of which he ended his life. “Arun’s family members had not levelled any such allegations in their complaint. They have only stated that the man could have ended his life after a tiff with his step brother,” the Inspector said.
