A workshop to create awareness about Microsoft’s Azure and ways in which the cloud computing platform can benefit non-profit organisations was conducted here on Friday by the software major.
About 22 representatives from 12 local NGOs participated in the programme conducted in association with Nasscom Foundation.
The ‘Azure for Good’ workshop was to highlight how such organisations were using the platform to drive greater impact among communities in the face of constant challenges of limited manpower and resources.
A release on the programme said that as part of the ‘Public Cloud for Good’ initiative, Microsoft India was making Azure “broadly available to eligible non-profit organisations. Qualifying non-profits can avail themselves of free Azure credits worth $5000 for a year to unlock benefits such as insight, agility and operational efficiency.” Nasscom Foundation CEO Shrikant Sinha said NGOs were challenged by the lack of funds to set up the required ICT infrastructure.
