A 40-year-old woman set herself ablaze after her minor daughter was allegedly sexually assaulted by her son-in-law at Ramgopalpet. Her condition is stated to be critical.
According to police, the accused, Sudhir (40), who works at a hotel, was sexually assaulting his sister-in-law for the last few days. Early this week, the girl’s mother, who works at a store as a saleswoman, came to know about it. “She confronted Sudhir over the issue, but the latter denied. The matter came up for discussion in the presence of the family elders,” Ramgopalpet Inspector Waheeduddin said.
On Wednesday, the woman, who was still upset about the incident, doused herself with kerosene and set herself ablaze. She was rushed to Gandhi Hospital for treatment by her relatives.
