A woman on Friday allegedly committed suicide at her house in Mansoorabad by consuming poison-laced food that she also fed to her two minor children.

L.B. Nagar police identified the woman as Sravanthi and her children as K Sai Teja (10) and Sathwika (7).

Sravanthi’s mother K. Lakshmi (43) lodged a complaint with police on Friday, stating that her son-in-law K. Ramesh was of unsound mind and that led to problems in the marriage. They started staying separately. Ramesh would meet the children alone and ignore Sravanthi, said Lakshmi.

Around 10 a.m. on Friday, after Lakshmi returned home from work, she saw Sravanthi and her children motionless. The trio was rushed to hospital, but said to have died en route.

A murder case has been booked against Sravanthi and investigation is under way.
