A 22-year-old man lured a woman he was in love with to a resort in Proddutur village near Shankarpally mandal in the guise of discussing their marriage plan and murdered her after she turned down the proposal on Thursday, the police said on Friday. Royyala Sai Prasad, the man, after a heated argument with Peerlagudem Sirisha Goud (21) over their marriage proposal, slit her throat in the bathroom.and left her to bleed to death. Her body was found in the bathroom of the cottage by the resort management. She was a resident of Kummariguda of Kothur mandal.

Shamshabad Deputy Commissioner of Police P. V. Padmaja said that around 1.30 p.m the duo visited the resort, which had been booked online, and spent some time. Around 4.30 p.m., Sai Prasad followed her into the bathroom and attacked her with a knife, which he had brought with him, as she refused to marry him.

“After an hour, when he got a call from his sister, he informed her of the murder and told her that he too wanted to end his life. She then alerted the resort management,” the DCP said.

The DCP said the duo had known each other since studying in a junior college at Shamshabad five years ago and had been in a relationship. Of late, Prasad had suspected her to be paying little attention to him.
