“Badyathayutha Pauruni Chethilo Brahmastram – c-VIGIL mobile app” [the Election Commission of India’s Android-based mobile application named “cVIGIL” is a potent weapon in the hands of citizens to report any violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in the poll bound State], read a wall poster released by the election authorities in the undivided Khammam district.

Salient features

The multi-coloured wall poster detailed the procedure of reporting violations of the MCC through the user-friendly “cVIGIL” mobile app promoting greater citizen engagement in the electoral process thereby ensuring free and fair elections.

People in the poll-bound State can report incidents of the violations of the MCC by sending pictures or video clips of the scene of violations through the mobile app. The app allows the citizens to track the status of their complaints.

The Geographic Information System-based mobile app will enable the staff manning the District Control Room dispatch the field units to the scene of violations for appropriate action, sources said. The mobile app is likely to become operational in the ten poll-bound constituencies of both Khammam and Bhadradri-Kothagudem districts, in a few days, sources added.

Meanwhile, Khammam Collector R. V. Karnan reviewed the special arrangements to be made for the physically challenged voters for December 7 Assembly polls at a meeting with the Returning Officers of the five Assembly constituencies at the Collectorate in Khammam on Monday.

In Kothagudem, Bhadradri-Kothagudem District Collector Rajat Kumar Saini released a wall-poster on the MCC and cVIGIL mobile app at the Collectorate in the district headquarters town.
