Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao congratulated P.V. Sindhu for winning the World Women Badminton Championship and said she made the country proud.
Hyderabad has become a platform for training international winners. “This is a welcome development. Sindhu should take part in many such tournaments and the Olympics. The State government is ready to extend all support and make arrangements for Sindhu’s preparations to participate in the future tournaments,” the CM said.
Ms. Sindhu, accompanied by her parents, coach P. Gopichand and Badminton Association general secretary Chamunderswarinath met the Chief Minister at Pragathi Bhavan here on Wednesday.
Mr. Rao felicitated Ms. Sindhu with a shawl and a flower bouquet. Minister Srinivas Goud, Sports Authority Chairman Venkateshwar Reddy, DGP Mahender Reddy, Police Commissioners Anjani Kumar, V.C. Sajjanar and Mahesh Bhagawat, IG (Intelligence) Navin Chand were also present.
“By winning the world championship, Sindhu stands tall among 130-crore Indians. This is a moment of pride for all of us. One cannot reach this stage without rigorous practice, focus and dedication. Sindhu’s parents, being national sportspersons themselves, groomed Sindhu well while coach Gopichand trained her to become an outstanding player,” he said.
