Boy fighting terminal cancer becomes police commissioner

A six-year-old boy battling terminal cancer lived his dream of working as a police commissioner. Rachakonda police allowed the boy to “officiate” from the commissioner’s office on Wednesday.

According to Rachakonda police, the boy D. Ishan arrived at the commissioner’s officer, dressed for the part, and was welcomed by Commissioner M. Mahesh Bhagwat. The boy, undergoing treatment at MNJ Cancer Hospital, had expressed his wish to an NGO, Make A Wish Foundation, which got in touch with the police.

He told the police that he would like to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for all if he were to work as a police official.

The boy’s father, D. Chand, a painter from Medak, also received a ₹10,000 donation for the child’s treatment from the Rachakonda police.
