Adilabad District Election Officer and Collector D. Divya and Superintendent of Police Vishnu S. Warrier were among a host of officials who celebrated Holi as part of the Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation programme at Ambedkar Chowk here on Thursday. A competition in breaking a colour-filled pot hanging in the air was held, while voters left their palm and thumb imprints on a white wall as part of the programme.

The officials also celebrated the festival with common people.

KARIMNAGAR Special Correspondent adds: The festival of colours was celebrated with great enthusiasm in various parts of Karimnagar district on Thursday.

The streets in the town were soaked in colours as revellers celebrated the festival with their near and dear ones.

This year, the district authorities did not celebrate the festival in view of the council elections, while the district police abstained from the celebrations in memory of the slain CRPF jawans in Kashmir.

In Jagtial town, Collector A. Sharath participated in the celebrations along with revenue officials at his camp office. Youngsters in Rajanna-Sircilla district also celebrated the festival at Vemulawada temple town.
