With heavy inflows in catchment areas, water was released from Singur reservoir by lifting gate number 13. The reservoir capacity is 29.91 tmcft, while the present storage stands at 29.38 tmcft.

According to sources, 3,000 cusecs of water was released for power production of 14 MW. With water level in the reservoir reaching its full capacity, there will be assured water for fields under Singur canals and Ghanpur anicut, besides meeting the drinking water requirements.

The district witnessed heavy rainfall late last night resulting in four deaths due to lightning that took place in Narayanakhed. Many low laying areas were inundated with heavy water logging.

According to officials, Patancheru registered 71 mm rainfall, followed by Narayanakhed - 70.2 mm., Andol 70 mm. and Pulakl mandal - 69.2.
