Wasim’s family had planned his marriage

May 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Family of Mohammed Ateef Wasim, who died in Syria reportedly after joining the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, planned to perform his marriage in a few weeks. They found an alliance for him in Mancherial, but had to eventually cancel the wedding as reports of his death reached them.

Family sources maintained that rumours of Wasim joining the ISIS began floating after cancellation of the wedding itself. Though Wasim’s father did not reveal what sort of information he has about his son joining the ISIS, it was evident from his obvious grief that Wasim had died, a source said.

“The fact that the family has neither booked a case nor asked for government’s help in tracing their ward strengthens this belief,” the source added. Wasim was not the first person from Telanagana to be linked with the ISIS.
