Ward member, kin held for assaulting constable

A traffic constable with Malkajgiri police station was assaulted by Moulali ward member and her family members for taking a photograph of the former’s son-in-law, who was triple-riding on Thursday.

The accused also snatched the camera from constable Mohammed Muzaffer when he refused to delete the photograph.

“The family members picked up an argument with the officer and asked him to delete the photo. When he refused do so, they started assaulting him and sped with the camera,” Malkajgiri police said.

The offence took place around 11 a.m. and the bike rider too abused the constable. “Nearly 15 minutes later, the family members reached the spot and assaulted him,” inspector A Manmohan said.

The accused were identified as Syed Mahammada Begum, Moulali area 138 division ward member, her husband Syed Gafar and their sons Mohd Majeed and Syed Sadiq Hussain.
