All the streets in the city were brightly lit as thousands of women in their best attire made their way towards temples and water bodies on the final day of Bathukamma, the festival of flowers, here on Wednesday.

A large number of women were seen proceeding towards Padmakshi temple and Thousand Pillar temple carrying huge Bathukammas made of varied flowers.

Hundreds of onlookers gathered on either side of roads leading to the temples and water bodies to witness the celebrations as police barred the entry of vehicles on certain roads to facilitate the smooth conduct of Bathukamma. The entire Hanamkonda Chowarastha from Ashoka Theatre to Thousand Pillar temple was blocked for vehicles where a huge gathering was witnessed.

The occasion proved beneficial for people from rural areas, who had come here to sell flowers, for they could sell a large quantity of flowers to customers.

The immersion of Bathukammas was held on a grand scale at Thousand Pillar temple, Bhadrakali temple, Padmakshi temple, Waddepalli lake and various other localities in the tri-cities of Warangal, Hanamkonda and Kazipet.

City Police Commissioner V. Ravinder and other senior officers monitored the final day of Bathukamma festival by deploying more women personnel to prevent any untoward incident.
