Vijaya Dairy plans delivery on e-carts

TSDDCF invites expression of interest for supply of battery operated e-carts

The Telangana State Cooperative Dairy Development Federation, the producer and seller of Vijaya Telangana brand milk and milk products, has embarked upon procurement of battery operated vehicles, e-carts, that will take range of its products to the doorsteps of the consumers.

The Federation has invited Expression of Interest from the manufacturers who are ready to supply the vehicles. The pre-bid meeting of the manufacturers will be held on Friday and this will be followed by calling for tenders electronically. The technical bids would be opened on September 3 and the commercial bids will be opened on September 6.

Aggressive marketing

The development follows the plans drawn up by the Federation for aggressively expanding its operations in the areas still remained uncovered within the GHMC limits as also the residential and commercial areas in other urban areas in the districts. Senior officials of the federation said the proposal was to acquire 200 vehicles in a phased manner. More than half of these vehicles would be operated within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits and the remaining would be deployed in the areas where the federation sees huge demand for its products.

Prototype developed

A prototype of the battery operated three-wheeler developed in line with the design suggested by the Federation had cost close to ₹2 lakh. “The price of each vehicle is expected to be anywhere between ₹1.6 lakh and ₹2 lakh as we are expecting subsidy from the government in the form of tax waiver as the vehicles are completely battery operated and pollution free,” the official told The Hindu adding that the project would not involve much expenditure to the federation.

Once the tenders for the supply of the vehicles are finalised, the federation will select the beneficiaries who will be entrusted with the operation of the vehicles. Accordingly, the beneficiary will have to bear 70% of the cost of the vehicle and the federation will bear 30% of the amount as subsidy.
