The City of Vienna is inviting tourists from India during next year, as it celebrates 250th birth anniversary of musical maestro Ludwig van Beethoven in 2020.

The Austrian capital, which the legendary composer made his home, would pay special year-long homage to mark its appreciation for him, a statement from the Vienna Tourist Board said.

Concerts, operas and other events would be organised on all-time greats from Beethoven to Mozart, and international artists such as Billy Joel, Hans Zimmer, Yuja Wang and Joshua Bell, it said.

Welcoming family groups from India to the city, it said India is among the 20 most prominent markets for the Board.

In the coming year, Vienna Tourist Board would showcase the city’s big attractions in myriad ways, with special focus on Indians travelling together as families, the note said.
