VHP, Bajrang Dal to hold rasta roko

Visha Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal have called for a State-wide blockade to protest the externment of Swami Paripoornanda.

“We will organise rasta-roko programme in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. We are doing this because Swami Paripoornanda was banished from Hyderabad,” said VHP’s president Rama Raju.

The cleric of Sri Peetham of Kakinada was externed for six months by the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad on July 10.

Mr. Raju said the allegations levelled against the swami by the police citing a few instances are baseless. He demanded that the police rescind the externment order and warned that their agitation would intensify if the government did not heed to their demand.

Mr. Raju said a convention of seers is also being planned as part of the protest if the orders are not withdrawn.
