Following the discussions held with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao failing to yield any positive result over payment of compensation for the lands being acquired by the State Government, the farmers of Vemulaghat have decided to continue their agitation.
This was indicated by villagers after they came out of the Chief Minister’s farm house.
“We are not satisfied with the offer being made by the Government. They are trying to pay us peanuts where as our farms are more valuable,” said a farmer, who took part in the meeting.
He said that for the first time they were hearing a voice with ‘threatenings’ from a person in a position like the Chief Minister.
“The Chief Minister has been stating that come what may they will construct Mallannasgar Reservoir and about one tmcft water will be released by next year.
“We will continue our agitation till our problem was addressed,” said one Hayatuddin, a farmer of the village.
