The State government is planning to shift the poor people who have made the bed of Musi River their home, to the unoccupied housing units of VAMBAY and JNNURM projects.

A press statement was issued in this regard, detailing decisions taken at a review meeting held by Minister K.T. Rama Rao on the beautification and development of Musi, here on Thursday.

The Hyderabad district administration will conduct an exhaustive enumeration programme to identify encroachments into the Musi River, in a prelude to their removal.

Surveillance in place

Continuous surveillance will be put in place through CC cameras, so that further encroachments can be nipped in the bud.

Mr. Rama Rao has instructed the officials to also install caution boards at various locations against encroachments.

Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan, Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar, GHMC Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy, HMDA Commissioner T. Chiranjeevulu, Collector, Hyderabad, Yogita Rana, and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
