In a joint operation, the Task Force and Saifabad police rescued a 27-year-old Uzbek national after they raided a brothel in Lakdikapul. The raid was conducted late on Wednesday night following a tip-off.

Police said that two persons I. Vijay Kumar and K. Nookaratnam have been apprehended while two others, Matsuba and Raju are absconding.

Vijay Kumar, who is from Vijayawada, came to the city in 2010 to run a textile business. However, he suffered losses. Habituated to soliciting sex, he began running brothels in rented apartments and is said to have brought women not only from cities such as Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai but also from other countries. He sourced the Uzbek national through agents Matsuba, who is from Delhi, and Raju, who is from Mumbai.

A repeat offender, he was previously arrested by the police of Banjara Hills, Saifabad, Punjagutta and Narayanguda. The task force arrested him again last May and subsequently, he was lodged in Chanchalguda Jail.

After his release, the accused approached K. Nookaratam, a native of Visakhapatnam and ran the brothel from a flat in Lakdikapul.

The PD Act is likely to be invoked against Vijay Kumar.
