Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has alleged that State government has allotted 800 acres of land to Welspun Group in a single shot through different GOs giving concessions and asked for an explanation how land worth hundreds of crores was allotted to one single group.

In an informal chat with media here, he said Industries and Commerce Department issued GOs 19, 20 and 21 on the same day. Through GO 19 Welspun Flooring Ltd was allotted 500 acres, capital subsidy of ₹ 80 crore, interest subsidy at 8% per annum for a period of 8 years, power tariff subsidy of ₹ 2.625 per unit for a period of 10 years and 100% Gross SGST reimbursement.

More incentives

Through GO 20, Welspun Corp Ltd was allotted 150 acres of land, 10% capital subsidy, interest subsidy at 5% per annum for five years, power tariff subsidy of ₹ 2.5 per unit for a period of 10 years and 100% Net SGST reimbursement.

In the next GO another 150 acres of land was allotted with similar concessions.

He said that Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao owes an explanation on how 800 acres were given to one group and who benefited from such a huge land allocation.

The TPCC chief alleged that IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan has played the key role in these irregularities.
