‘We will participate in all struggles of RTC staff’

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has strongly condemned Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao’s threat to dismiss striking employees.

“We stand by the RTC employees and will participate in all struggles of the RTC staff. We totally support the demand to merge RTC with the government,” he said in a statement here on Sunday.

Conspiracy theory

Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka alleged that the Chief Minister was conspiring to take over the TSRTC. Mr. Bhatti questioned the government’s action in not trying to redress the grievances of the striking employees and instead threatening them with dismissal from service.

Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also extended wholehearted support to the workers and said the Congress would wage a legal battle. In a statement, Mr. Reddy termed the threats as undemocratic and against the law.

“When the employees are on strike after giving notice, how can the Chief Minister talk about dismissing them,” he asked. He said no striking employee should fear the threats and added: “All four crore people of Telangana are with you.”
